This Guide was not specifically written to conform with the Swiss "ELP for Young People and Adults". The main topics are the integration of the Language Portfolio into (regular) language teaching and the development of learners' self-assessment skills.

Assessment Grid
Just like the self-assessment instruments contained in the Language Portfolio, this grid is a result of the Swiss research project. Teachers may use it to assess the quality of learners' oral performances. It allows for an assessment using five categories: Range, Accuracy, Fluency, Interaction, Coherence.
